Budget Databases

State Auditor Mike Foley is pleased to announce the availability of searchable databases for the past 9 budget years.

The Multi-Year BASIC Query allows a search of subdivisions for the most commonly asked about areas (Property Tax Request, Outstanding Debt, Total Disbursements, Total Resources, Valuation, and Unused Budget Authority)

Multi-Year Basic Budget Query

The DETAILED Query allows a search of subdivisions for specific budget line items.

Line Item Detailed Query

The databases are being updated continually as our tireless data-entry person works to enter all of the data from the budgets submitted by September 20th of each year.

These searchable databases include all types of subdivisions from fire districts, counties, townships, municipalities, schools, hospital districts etc.

The Auditor of Public Accounts office has created databases in-house utilizing Microsoft Access software. Each budget goes through a review process before we allow the data to be put out on the internet.    Please Note: Information available is from budgets which have been accepted for filing, we have not included any subdivision whose budget has been rejected.

LB 968, passed during the 2000 Legislative Session, added an exclusion to the Nebraska Budget Act. Political Subdivisions that did not have a property tax request or will not receive state aid were not required to file a budget. The change really means if the Lid on Restricted Funds does not apply neither does the Nebraska Budget Act. A postcard was filed by those subdivisions noting why the Budget Act did not apply.

Due to form changes for the 2000-2001 budget year, most which were recommended by the Nebraska Budget Act Advisory Board, subdivisions are broken down into Subdivision Groups (i.e. Municipalities contains, Villages, Second Class Cities, First Class Cities, etc.) You must select which Subdivision Group you would like to view information for, you can then select a specific Type within the Group or move down to the County field. The Group field is the only field which is required to be selected. You then click on the Select Subdivisions button.

The Lid on Restricted Funds (LC-3 Lid Computation Form and LC-3 Supporting Schedule) does not apply to Sanitary and Improvement Districts which have been in existence for five years or less.

The screen which appears contains all subdivisions which meet your Group, Type, and County selections. You can now select just a specific subdivision or several subdivisions for review/comparison. The next step would be to pick which items you wish to pull.
